Coal Removal and Processing

Through our affiliate Fayette Coal & Coke, Inc, we remove and process coal and waste coal, and we pay the property owner royalties.

The plant decides what the owner is paid

Recovery is where coal makes or loses money, because royalties follow what actually comes out of the material. Because we own and operate our own processing plant, we are able to recover a larger yield from the same coal.

A larger yield results in more royalties paid to the property owner. Coal handled by a contractor with no plant of its own does not carry that advantage, and the landowner is the one who feels it.

Waste coal from abandoned mine lands

Old mines leave things behind. Gob piles are the heaps of rock and low-grade coal dumped at the mine, and subsidence areas are ground that has settled over old workings. We process waste coal from abandoned mine lands, including gob piles and subsidence areas (stumps and ribs).

Stumps and ribs are the pillars of coal left standing when the old workings were mined out. Recovering that coal puts value back into ground that has been sitting idle.

When coal turns up where you did not expect it

Drillers and developers hit coal more often than they plan for. We handle the removal of coal for the oil and gas industry when a seam is encountered at a gas well site, and we mine and process coal encountered in any land development project.

Because the same company also builds the pad, the road or the pond, the coal does not turn into a second contractor and a second schedule. To talk about coal removal and sales, contact Tom Savona at (724) 322-7904.
